To avoid spending too much time job searching, try to carve out a routine for yourself that makes sense with your other obligations. You might want to spend your mornings dedicated to your job search, and then have your afternoons free to do other activities. That way you wont feel like all youre doing is job hunting.Get goal-oriented.It goes without saying that the goal of your job search is to, well, get a job. Thing is, getting hired for a job is comprised of many smaller tasks, such as making aya that your resume is up-to-par, and that your cover letter is customized for each job that you apply to. So in order to attain your major goal of getting hired, break it up into smaller, bite-sized goals tha t you can easily accomplish. Sometimes, having that reminder can make you feel better about yourself and give you a boost of confidence.Take a class.During your job search downtime, why not break up the monotony by taking a class? If you opt to find a class in your industry, it can definitely lift your job search spirits It can not only he lp you feel like youre more in control of your job search, but it can also add newfound experience or education to your resume, too. Not to mention, classes are a great way to meet new people and increase your network. Plus, getting out of the house (and away from your job search for a while) can do wonders for your frame of mind.Treat yourself. On days when your job search seems to be going nowhere fast, be sure to make yourself a priority. Do something you love, like taking a long walk, getting physical at a salsa class downtown, or sitting down at Starbucks with an iced caramel macchiato and a good book. A simple splurge can reinvigorate you and put a more positive spin on your job search.Get inspired.Visualization techniques can work wonders in helping people achieve their goals. Its OK to ask for help Were all in this together

Its OK to ask for help Were all in this togetherIts OK to ask for help Were all in this togetherIts easy to imagine that ur role models, leaders, and other highly successful people have it all together. No big career mistakes, no missteps, no faceplants.Ive also noticed that strong, accomplished women are especially adept at hiding when things arent going well. This has been on my mind a lot since I heard the heartbreaking news about Kate Spade and Anthony Bourdain. When youre used to routinely moving mountains, alchemizing ideas into results, rallying troops, and powering through roadblocks, it can be hard to acknowledge that youre struggling. Tough to admit it to yourself, and almost inconceivable to admit it to others. Two years ago, I was diagnosed with, and cured of, breast cancer. After I recovered, I found myself drifting and without goals for the first time since I can recall. Even though I was being a self-care champion, I found it hard to fully focus on my work. I recognized that I was dealing with survivors guilt. At dinner one night with my new friend, Cat, I opened up about everything. Without any judgement, she referred me to a truly awesome therapist. Exactly what I needed. Its OK to admit youre struggling. Its OK to ask for help. Its OK to accept help. One more thing Check in on your friends and colleagues. (Even that slightly intimidating, amazing, courageous woman who is making sht happen and always looks like she has it together.) Ask if they are OK. Be willing to listen, and if necessary, act. Were all in this together.Thisarticleoriginally appeared onBeLeaderly.com.
